NEWS REPORT ON "5G ROLLOUT DELAY" - aired on CPTV NEWSCAST JANUARY 28, 2022

SUBMITTED TO IASB AND NATAS AS ENTRY IN "NEWS REPORT-SERIOUS NEWS" CATEGORY - FEBRUARY 2022

This package demonstrates my abilities to deliver news on-air in the field, conduct interviews, capture B-roll, write copy, design graphics and edit video. Stand-up was recorded at the Porter County Regional Airport in Valparaiso the night before an impending snowstorm which had already closed schools for the next day. I recorded by myself under a shelter to shield myself from the falling snow. The pilot in the package stepped off a flight and immediately did the interview with me via Zoom. I felt the package needed detailed graphics because of the depth of the technology involved in the story. Airplane B-roll was recorded at O'Hare International Airport.

Students with on-air radio responsibilities at TheDOGRadio.com are required to design their own promotional pictures which are then posted on TheDOGRadio.com website and our individual social media pages. To the left are pieces I designed to promote our daily, live morning radio show, "The Morning Bark," for the 2021-22 (top) and the 2020-21 (bottom) school years. We are given specific dimensions and style guides to work within and are allowed to create our show's brand around these parameters. I have always enjoyed design work and this promo work affords us the opportunity to develop our show's brand.

I designed and produced this package for our Snapchat newscast and its focus is the emergence of the COVID Omicron variant around the same time the Crown Point Community School Corporation school board voted to make "masks optional" inside all CPCSC buildings. I worked closely with the newscast anchor, Rocco Jann, in designing the segment and writing copy that worked within the framework of the entire newscast. For this piece, I designed graphics, conducted and recorded interviews, wrote the script and edited the package for air. This segment originally aired on December 3, 2021.

This video is a more recent example of our social media newscast and it exhibits my ability to design and employ motion graphics. Our style guide consists of motion graphics displaying closed captions and synchronized quotes during interviews for viewers watching the newscast without sound. The intro, outro, transitions and weather are all designed and utilized by our team and provide for the framework, pace and feel of our newscast. In this episode I created an "on the phone" graphic for an interview I conducted via phone. This particular episode shows how much further we developed the style of the show from our NATAS National Student Production Award winning episode the previous year.

"MORNING BARK" LIVE DAILY RADIO TALK SHOW - originally aired in DECEMBER 2021 FOR THEDOGRADIO.COM

This scope is of a live morning radio talk show, "The Morning Bark," in which I was a cohost and operated the board every weekday for 3 years. This work exhibits other traits of my design abilities such as creating our intro and all segment intro transitions in addition to planning the entire show with my peers Claire Patena and Madeline Degenhart. Radio is truly "theatre of the mind" so it's imperative to provide imagery through audio for the listener whether it be music beds and sound effects for our morning show or interviews, natural audio and sound bites during our news and sportscasts.
